The PLA quality is extremely suitable for various printing designs. PLA is green, environmentally friendly, biodegradable and requires less heat and therefore less energy to melt. Moreover, because of the low temperature, it is easier to use. So, in all respects, it is a good thing and, in our opinion, the best type of filament.

What are PLA filaments?

PLA stands for Polylatic Acid, a material made of biodegradable raw materials. This makes it the most environmentally friendly option if you are looking for new filaments for your 3D printer or 3D pen. PLA melts at a relatively low temperature (180 ~ 220 °C) and is therefore very user-friendly. Drawings that you make with PLA using a 3D pen, or objects that you print with a 3D printer, have a nice shiny layer with this filament.

3D printing with PLA

How does printing with PLA filaments work exactly? When 3D printing with PLA, you need to heat the material to an average of 'only' 200°C. At this temperature, the material melts and you can create three-dimensional objects from it. It is 100% safe and no harmful substances are released during the melting process.

PLA is mainly used for creative projects and is very suitable for fine and accurate work. The material has a high density, but after processing it is slightly more brittle than ABS. Because PLA is made of environmentally friendly materials, such as corn oil or sugar cane, it is a sustainable choice. And, not unimportantly, working with PLA is also pleasant for the nose, because the melting process gives off a pleasant sweetish smell and not a plastic smell.

But beware: objects made from PLA cannot withstand high temperatures. For example, if you make a flower pot and put it in the window frame in the middle of summer, there is a good chance that it will melt after a while.
